Sites Disappeared From Google
I had a few sites that were getting some traffic seem to drop out of Google. When you do a site:domain.com nothing shows up as of today. Some of the sites had nothing more then a 100 or so social bookmarks and no other sketchy links.
Is this a penalty and do you think the sites will come back? Kind of sucks because i was starting to build some momentum

Check webmaster tools for any notifications, but if you have been completely deindexed likely something was wrong and you got the full ban. You can file re-inclusion in WMT as well.

There is 11ty reasons why you could get a ban, verify the site in WMT and the messages may already be there.

Webmaster tools is the tell all and google analytics is great as well. If you were banned, were you writing duplicate content? Are you clicking on your own PPC ads if you use adsense? Are you using link farms and link exchanges? Automated submission services?

I seem to have lost a lot of sites myself.
Still trying to see if there is a common thread. The reality is that most of these are what are called "thin affiliate" sites which basically are viewed by google as spam. So in that sense it is not totally unexpected.
