Trying To Add Search Box and Link Merchant Logos

I have read so many different post and not sure which ones are current. I would like to add a search box to my store, not just one category, but all categories and products would be included in the search. Like shopuland.com

I have several categories on my site, arts n crafts, baby, clothes, automotive, etc to name a few. I would like to be able to put the merchant's logo on each page that carries that category. Is there an easy way to accomplish this?

I'm pretty much a newbie and would love any help anyone could give me.
